The Necropolis Ltd.
In the laid-back tourist town of Vermoregaine, Vermont, is New England's most haunted train station: The Necropolis Ltd. Naomi Ito has been selling tour tickets there for a while now, and while she likes the job, she doesn't believe in ghosts.
Or does she?
She soon finds out the hard way that there is a supernatural underbelly to Vermoregaine; few of the townsfolk are what they seem. Werebeasts prowl the back alleys of Main Street, vampires lurk in old apartments, and beings of much more obscure mythologies haunt the forested outskirts. Naomi's coworkers are no exception. But there are scarier things in this world than monsters, and one of them might threaten her future.
The Necropolis Ltd. is a webcomic idea I've had for a while. Despite all the brainstorming work I've done on it, I haven't actually drawn much for it. You can, however, read a side story here.
Characters
Premise
Vermoregaine has a rich history, both supernatural and mundane, woven into its very fabric. As such, tourists often visit for the sake of novelty, curiosity, and a heaping dose of aesthetic sensibility. But as with any tourist town, the real weirdness can't be found in any guide-- it's in the people themselves.
Five categories of townsfolk can be found in Vermoregaine:
- Mundanes - Ordinary mortal humans. The category to which Naomi belongs.
- Bones - The undead. Ghosts, psychopomps, and others who linger after life.
- Fangs - Vampires. Those who feed on the blood of Mundanes to sustain their eternal youth.
- Claws - Werebeasts. Humans who change into animal shapes under the full moon's light.
- Knives - Those who seek the destruction of the supernatural. May not actually exist in town.
